Babel und Bibel: Annual of Ancient Near Eastern, Old Testament, and Semitic Studies

Babel und Bibel (published since 2004) is an annual of Ancient Near Eastern, Old Testament, and Semitic studies. The principal goal of the journal is to further collaboration among the three disciplines, — Assyriology, Semitics, and Biblical studies, — which, in their joint efforts, explore civilizations of the Ancient Near East. The main difference between Babel und Bibel and other periodicals in the field is the combination of these three areas of inquiry. The inherent relationship between these areas was of high importance for our predecessors, who successfully explored it, but this relationship is often neglected today.

A considerable amount of articles in this international annual is supplied by Russian scholars, which is its another unique feature. It gives readers throughout the world an opportunity to follow the progress of Ancient Near Eastern, Semitic, and Biblical studies in Russia, a country with a rich scholarly tradition in these three fields of study.
